Jackie Robinson Padded Brooklyn Dodgers Cap
“the cap dates circa 1948, with a white Brooklyn ‘B’ embroidered on the front. The cap has three protective plats sewn inside to protect his head from beanings. It was made by Spalding and is part of the Robinson Family Collection. This is the only cap to this date that I have ever made available to the collecting public. The cap is 100% original and was game-worn by Jackie Robinson during his career as a Brooklyn Dodger.”

Included are three pictures of Jackie wearing this (or at least a nearly identical cap) as evidenced by the liner, stitching, and “B” on the front, a design worn in 1947 and carried over to 1948.
Despite his tempestuous welcoming, Robinson won Rookie of the Year in the 1947 season, batting .297 with 12 homers and 29 stolen bases. Just two years later, he was the National League’s Most Valuable Player.
Currently on display at the Jackie Robinson Museum, NYC.
